A retired Ripon College economist says it doesn’t look good for another federal coronavirus relief package after House Democrats this week blocked Republican efforts to pass a smaller version. Economist Paul Schoofs both sides seem to have really dug in their heels and optimism for a compromise appears to be unfounded at this point. Schoofs says there doesn’t seem to be any give on either side, and he says that doesn’t bode well for the shakey economic recovery, especially if COVID-19 cases continue to surge this fall and winter.
