A Wisconsin National Guard major says it’s heartbreaking to see footage from the wildfires raging across western states. Last Friday the Wisconsin National Guard dispatched two Black Hawk helicopters and 15 solidiers to assist with firefighting efforts in California. National Guard major Joe Trovato says the crews are flying fire suppression operations, dumping large water buckets on the fires. Trovato says the Guard regularly trains for fire suppression and many other missions to support fellow citizens and communities. Travato says the Wisconsin crew will be in California as long as they are needed.
