12-7-19 uw-oshkosh chancellor wants uw-o to become “internship capital” of the uw system

The UW Oshkosh Chancellor says he’s proud of the accomplishments that have been made in his five years at the helm.     “I’ve really enjoyed my time here and I’m really pleased with what the university has been able to do over the last five years,”  Andrew Leavitt told WFDL news.  Leavitt says in the next five years UW-O wants to become a more research-intensive institution serving the manufacturing and commerce needs of the region.  “I think that’s something northeast Wisconsin is missing,  is a more vigorous research oriented institution.  That’s never to say we would ever move away from our primacy of teaching, but I think there is a lot more that we could do,”  Leavitt said.   Leavitt says he wants UW Oshkosh to be the “internship capital”  of the UW System.   “Taking advantage of this incredible opportunity of place from Fond du Lac all the way up to Green Bay, one point five million people, just endless possibilites in terms of internships and employment for our students.”
