The Fond du Lac city manager says the overall tax rate will be down in the 2020 budget. The Fond du Lac city council approved the budget at Wednesday night’s Fond du Lac city council meeting. City Manager Joe Moore says the budget does not include an additional ambulance crew, or six new positions as requested by the fire chief. Moore says with revenue limits, the city can’t afford to do that at this time. Instead the council will review public safety staffing levels after the first of the year with the possibility of going to a referendum next fall. Top capital improvements in the budget include $3.2 million for a new Lakeside Park pavilion, over $1 million for a new fire department ladder truck and money for a new roundabout at Rienzi Road and Fond du lac Avenue.
