10-17-19 vacant fdl convent building

The Fond du Lac city manager says the owner of a vacant convent has made no significant effort to repair damage caused by a fire more than four years ago.  This week Fond du Lac judge Robert Wirtz delayed judgement on a request to dismiss a temporary restraining order against the city by the convent owner  following unsuccessful mediation. The restraining order was filed in August 2018 after the city approved a plan to raze the building, which was damaged by an arson fire in June 2015.   City manager Joe Moore says the only significant work that has been done on the building since the fire has been repairs to the roof shortly after the fire. Moore says the building was vacant for a long time before it burned in 2015.  Judge Robert Wirtz is scheduled to issue an oral ruling November 20.
