8-21-19 life expectancy report-fdl county public health officer react

The Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer says the latest Life Expectancy report for Wisconsin shows that more work needs to be done to reduce drug and alcohol abuse.   The report shows life expectancy in Wisconsin has declined for a second straight year in Wisconsin.   Fond  du lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says of particular concern is the state’s rate of death due to drugs and alcohol.  “With drug and alcohol deaths in Wisconsin more than tripling since 1999, that’s extreme,”  Mueller told WFDL news.  Mueller says Fond  du lac County has a higher alcohol death rate than the state average.   Mueller says the drug death rate in Wisconsin more than quadrupled since 1999.
