4-22-19 high speed chase-fdl county

Nobody was injured in a high speed chase in Fond du Lac County that ended in the city of Fond du Lac.   The chase started shortly after 4pm  Saturday when  a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to stop a vehicle speeding nearly 100 miles an hour on Hwy 151 near Highland Park Road in the town of Calumet.  The driver failed to stop,  passing other vehicles on the shoulder of the road and continued southbound on Hwy 151 where he slowed his vehicle to near highway speeds.   An attempt was made to use a tire deflation device at Hwy 151 near Cty K, but was unsuccessful.   The chase continued in the city of Fond du lac on Johnson Street at proper speeds and ended when deputies performed a moving roadblock technique near Moraine Park Technical College.  The driver, a 39 year-old Chilton man was taken into custody at that time for Felony Knowingly Fleeing an Officer.   During the stop of the vehicle, it was found to be occupied by  four of the driver’s children, all under the age of 14. Further investigation with the driver found him to be operating while under the influence of an intoxicant. The driver faces further criminal charges of OWI with minor passengers present and numerous traffic related citations.  The City of Fond du Lac Police Department assisted in the pursuit which spanned nearly eight miles. There were no injuries to officers or civilians or property damage reported in the incident.
