For more than 30 years Fond du Lac children have trick or treated on the Sunday afternoon before Halloween. The change was prompted by the terrifying murder of nine year old Lisa French when she was trick or treating on Halloween 1973. Now the Fond du Lac city council is considering changing trick or treat hours again but for a completely different reason. City manager Joe Moore says he brought it forward for council discussion because there are at least some members of the community who want trick or treating moved from Sunday to Saturday afternoon so the trick or treaters don’t interrupt Green Bay Packer football. “For those who have asked me about it yes,” Moore told WFDL news. “There is not a big groundswell saying we’ve got to change this. Its some people saying wouldn’t it be better if trick or treating wasn’t competing with the Packer games.”
