9-14-18 hurricane florence about the size of wisconsin

A National Weather Service meteorologist says  to put Hurricane Florence into perspective for Wisconsin residents, the hurricane is larger in size than the state of Wisconsin with sustained top wind speeds that equal  the  top wind speeds from t he August 28 tornado outbreak.   “A lot of the winds we saw that knocked the trees down across the southern part of Fond du Lac County, we estimated those winds at 90 to 110 mph,”   National Weather Service meteorologist Tim Halbach told WFDL news.  Halbach says heavy rain and storm surge are the biggest concerns.
