11-23-17 thanksgiving travel

Automobile traffic picked up significantly Wednesday afternoon as Wisconsin motorists headed out for the long Thanksgiving holiday.  State AAA spokesman Nick Jarmuscz  says the auto club’s survey projects  nearly 51 million Americans will travel, a 3.3 percent increase over last year.  “Our survey shows this is going to be the largest Thanksgiving travel in over a dozen years,”  Jarmuscz told WFDL news.    In  Wisconsin the survey shows about 945,000 people will be traveling by car, but  Jarmuscz says a record number of Wisconsin residents are traveling by airplane.  “We’re expecting a little over 82,000 Wisconsin residents will be flying to their destinations.  Thats a six percent increase over last year.”   Drivers will pay the highest Thanksgiving Day gas prices since 2015.
