5-13-16 uw-oshkosh commencement

The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh will host its 142nd spring commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 14.   More than 1,300 undergraduate and more than 190 graduate students will be recognized as UW Oshkosh’s newest graduates—bringing UW Oshkosh’s alumni base to nearly 90,000.  The ceremonies begin at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Kolf Sports Center, 738 High Ave., on the UW Oshkosh campus. The ceremonies will last about two hours.  UW Oshkosh Chancellor Andrew Leavitt will confer diplomas to the graduating students. Wisconsin State Representative Gordon Hintz will offer greetings from the state and Mark Tyler and Tim Higgins will represent the UW System Board of Regents.  Stan F. Mack II, superintendent of the Oshkosh Area School District (OASD), has been selected as the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.  Kathy Bermingham, Leadership Oshkosh program director at the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce, and Joye Moon, artist and UW Oshkosh alumna, have been named chancellor’s medallion recipients. (Read more.)   The 9 a.m. commencement ceremony will include speeches from Merlaine Angwall, professor and chair of the theatre department and Graciela Brinkman-Hernandez, women’s and gender studies major and graduating senior.   The 2 p.m. commencement ceremony will include speeches from Joshua Garrison, professor in the College of Education and Human Services and Marc Busko, economics major and graduating senior.
