3-11-16 oakfield teacher to donate kidney to student

The Oakfield Elementary School principal says staff is ready to step up when a fellow teacher gets the call from Froedert Hospital in Milwaukee.   Third grade teacher Jodi Schmidt is planning to donate a kidney to eight year old student Natasha Fuller.  Natasha was born with a kidney disease and doctors say she desparately needs a transplant.  School principal Becky Doyle says Schmidt’s decision to donate shows the kindness in her heart.  “She’s so passionate and our school theme this year is every journey begins with a great story and Jodi exemplifies that,”  Doyle told WFDL news. Doyle says when the transplant takes place…the school is ready to step up and fill in during Schmidt’s absence.  The transplant could be scheduled within a month.
