Fond du Lac fire investigators say a fire that destroyed a tavern this week appears to have started in a vacant upstairs apartment. Division Chief of Fire prevention Troy Haase says the cause of the fire is undetermined. “All we can really say now is the fire started upstairs,” Haase told WFDL news. “…DCI (Division of Criminal Investigation) was there. They’ll take care of the paperwork, the police department as well.” Police are still continuing their investigation. The fire Wednesday morning destroyed the Wayside Tavern on West Division Street. Nobody was injured.
