2-4-16 ripon college political science professor says iowa caucus results no surprise

A Ripon College political science professor says he’s not surprised at the results of this week’s Iowa caucuses.    Professor Marty Farrell says its important to remember that the winners of the Iowa caucuses have gone on to be elected president  only three times.   Farrell says Republican Ted Cruz’s big victory didn’t come as a surprise.  “Evangelical christians make up a big part of the Republican base in Iowa and that is who Ted Cruz appealed to,”  Farrell told WFDL news.  Farrell says even though Bernie Sanders did well, Hilary  Clinton still has the edge at this point.  “Sanders obviously did way better than he expected several months ago, but something we have to keep in mind, right now Hilary Clinton because of all of the super delegates already committed to her already has 384 and Sanders has 20.”
